Welcome to New Albany Little League! We hope you will find your experience with us to be fun and friendly, creating memories that you and your child will cherish for a lifetime. NALL provides a balanced atmosphere of competition and skills development, giving children of all abilities a wonderful learning experience.
NALL Code of Conduct
Players’ responsibilities are simple; be respectful of others, be responsible, play fair, do your best, and always exhibit good sportsmanship. Parents can set an example for players by displaying the high-level of sportsmanship that we expect of all participants and respecting all players, coaches, umpires, and volunteers. Our NALL Code of Conduct must be followed by all players, parents/guardians, coaches, officials, and spectators.
Volunteering with NALL
Our league is 100% volunteer-led and requires the involvement of every family to provide our players with the best possible experience year after year. If you’d like to volunteer, please complete the volunteer application and return the form to a Board member or via email. During registration, you can also volunteer for various positions including coach/manager and assistant coach.
Lost and Found
NALL maintains a Lost and Found for misplaced gloves, bats, jackets, and more. If you are missing something, please check with our concession stand volunteers. Due to our limited space, we will hold items for only a few weeks at a time. Unclaimed items will be donated. Contact us via email or on our Facebook page with questions or ask a Board Member to point you to the collection of gear.
Little League Bat Regulations
Testing and evaluating of youth baseball bats has evolved into a science. So much so that the standard has also evolved to where USA Baseball, the national governing body for the sport of baseball in the U.S., adopted a new method for measuring bat performance in the testing of youth bats. The new USA Baseball bat standard (USABat), was developed by a USA Baseball committee of scientific experts.
Effective January 1, 2018, Little League Baseball® complied with the new USABat standard. No bats previously approved for use in Little League play (Junior League Baseball and below) are permitted to be used in any Little League game or practice, or other Little League function, event, or activity. As of January 1, 2018, USABat Standard bats must be used in the Little League Major Baseball Division and below.
We encourage you to explore the Little League website for more helpful information. You may also visit the USA Baseball site for a comprehensive list of approved bats for Little League play. If you have any questions, please contact the NALL President or VP of Baseball for help.
FAQs
In what division should I register my child?
Little League divisions are based on "league age." Your child's league age is determined by Little League Baseball and Softball guidelines. The dates for baseball and softball are different, but each determines the division in which your child will play this season. Check out this League Age Calculator to determine your player's league age. When registering, choose the corresponding division for their league age.
What equipment does my softball player need?
NALL provides each player with a team jersey and socks. You can find a recommended list of additional equipment for softball here.
What equipment does my baseball player need?
NALL provides each player with a team jersey and hat. You can find a recommended list of additional equipment for baseball here.
How are team assignments made?
Following Spring registration and in accordance with Little League standards, NALL will host player assessments. Assessments are typically held in mid to late February. Evaluations allow us to create parity among teams and help to ensure that players are participating at an appropriate age and skill level.
Following evaluations, team managers at the rookie level and above gather for a player draft, and teams are created. Parents are contacted by their team manager shortly thereafter.
Players in our Fall Ball season are divided into teams by age. No formal assessment is conducted.
My child participated in NALL’s Fall Ball season. Why can’t I register at NALL for the Spring?
Local Little League programs are designed to foster a spirit of community. For NALL’s Spring season, we provide parents the option to enroll their children in our league if they reside or go to school within our boundaries. Our less formal Fall Ball season is open to children outside of our league boundaries. More information on league boundaries can be found here. To find out if you're within our boundary, enter your address here.
